In Kashmir, there are ongoing protests related to basic rights, and the situation has become increasingly violent. Many young people have been injured during these demonstrations, and some have even been shot. Shafqat Hussain lies on a bed in a small clinic after being shot in the chest. His friend, Ali, stands by his side and is crying. They have been protesting for affordable flour and electricity because prices are too high. Unfortunately, these protests have led to many injuries in the region. Doctors like Dr. Anwar are trying their best to help the injured, but they do not have enough medical supplies for the many people who need assistance. Protesters are afraid to go to the main hospital because they believe the police might arrest them; however, the police claim this is not true. Families are losing their loved ones during these protests because they believe in standing up for their rights. They only want to be treated fairly and gain access to basic necessities like food and electricity. The young protesters, many of whom are between 15 and 35 years old, have been vocal about their demands, but the authorities continue to ignore them. An agreement that was signed with the government last October has not yet been implemented, which has fueled further anger among the community. If the situation does not improve soon, more lives could be lost in the struggle for basic rights.
