European football teams might still choose to boycott competitions like the World Cup. Uefa states that Fifa's defence of president Gianni Infantino changes nothing about their position. Recently, the English Football Association (FA) sent a letter withdrawing its support for Infantino in response to his plan to sell parts of the World Cup to private investors. Uefa insists that its conditions are not satisfied, despite Infantino having cancelled the plans. They request that he make promises to never attempt such sales again. Uefa has declared that they have lost confidence in Infantino who proposed what they called a 'shabby deal'. Recently, some South American and African football groups decided to support him, including teams from Mexico and Argentina. Infantino offered $40 million to associations that would back his proposal for private investment in football. During a meeting, Fifa acknowledged that mistakes had been made in this process. However, the dissatisfaction from Uefa grows as they seek clear answers about Infantino's actions.
